Gold veins run out from it horizontally through the centre and then drop into a deep turquoise cove at the right edge, below mid-height. The cove is about 130 cm wide, and a pale gold line arcs around it. A second bundle of veins leaves the centre downwards, towards the bottom edge. The top right corner is almost white. Cream fabrics, pale oak and brass blend into the wall, so a single cushion or vase in turquoise is enough to give the cove an echo in the room. The design also has the scale needed in shared spaces: in a hotel lobby with low armchairs the background stays light and the turquoise reads clearly from a distance.
