In the middle three pale mint fans overlap at different heights, and to the right of centre the largest leaf opens out, cut off by the top edge. Each leaf is built from dense, thin, pale lines with the painterly look of brushstrokes; this is a printed effect, not a raised layer of paint.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe stalks run all the way down to the bottom edge, where two small, pale leaflets can be seen. The right-hand fifth of the image is the same ground with lighter bands, so on that side the composition has some free space.
