Fans in sandy beige, cream and white predominate, with ochre and brown streaks that look like watercolour stains. Between them lie slate, grey-blue leaves and patches – darkest by the left edge of the image, at the top and at the bottom, and in the right part of the middle. The background is pale grey, with a delicate, rough texture in the drawing itself, and in the top band pale, barely marked leaves show through.
