Its silhouette is outlined with a fine dark line, and the throat is covered with parallel lines. The body is off-white with a bluish shadow on the belly. The background is deep navy and indigo in vertical, uneven bands, lighter in the middle and dark at the edges. At the top and along the sides, white and cream dots like stars are scattered, from specks to spots the size of a coin. The whole looks like an ink drawing on a background of diluted paint.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn a wall 260 cm high the image is about 462 cm wide and the whale about 275 cm long. The wall resembles an enlarged engraving and goes with dark oak, velvet and brass. In a child’s reading nook or a teenager’s room, the stars and the hero itself matter more: a large, calm animal drawn without childish simplification.
