On the left of the image stand trees with soft, billowing crowns, in the centre a cluster of tall, straight trunks gathers, and on the right rises the brightest tree, with a distinct trunk and a wide, spreading crown. The background shifts from pale grey-blue at the top to warm sand in the lower half, and the white and ivory of the branches draw a pale lattice over it. The bottom of the image is covered with white scratches and cracks like old plaster, strongest on the left; near the lower edge the cracks dissolve into mist. Along the upper right edge you can see a fine, vertical weave reminiscent of canvas.
