The backdrop is a grey-blue wall of forest; in the upper left and right corners you can make out frosted trunks and branches. Snow kicked up by the hooves hides the legs of the horses on the right and turns into a smooth white expanse with a blue shadow, which fills the lower part of the image. In a hotel lounge with a fireplace, armchairs in caramel leather echo the colour of the coats, and the grey stone of the floor goes with the blue of the forest. In a dining room, a low bench of pale wood against the wall is enough, with the table pulled far enough away that people sitting do not cover the muzzles, which start about 130 cm above the floor.
