On the left side of the image they rise highest – one leaf touches the top edge – and on the right a tall leaf ends roughly a fifth of the height from the top. The middle of the upper half remains a smooth background in an ivory shade. The leaves are semi-transparent and overlap, so the pattern of one shows through the other.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe lower band is covered with thickly applied, cracked paint in cream, beige and pale grey-blue – in a flat print it looks like old, flaking plaster.
