UMBER PAMPAS - dark pampas grass on a light background for living rooms

Dark plumes of pampas grass stand out against a light, warm background like a sepia sketch on cream paper. The wall stays light and luminous while gaining a clear, calm rhythm that brings order to the room and pairs well with linen, pale wood and wickerwork.

What does the design show?

Unlike most designs in the collection, the contrast here is reversed: the taupe and olive-brown plumes are darker than the background, which is a warm ivory with soft, cloud-like streaks. On the left of the image stand three plumes leaning to the left and one smaller, upright one. To the right of centre, a tall plume reaches almost to the top edge, while a lower one beneath it droops to the left; three more stand by the right edge. Long, arching blades in olive grey rise from the bottom, denser on the right of the image, and the centre of the wall remains the lightest.

The plumes have a painterly texture with visible brushstrokes, so up close you can make out individual fibres. On a wall 260 cm high, the image is about 460 cm wide, the tallest plume is about 110 cm long and the blades reach about 150 cm from the bottom edge.

Which interiors does it suit?

Living room – the light background does not overwhelm the room, so you can hang this taupe pampas grass wall mural on a wide wall behind the sofa, even in a flat with a single window. The plumes start high up, so a low sofa, coffee table and wicker poufs will not hide the most interesting part of the drawing. Pale wood, ecru wool and ceramics work well here, in a Japandi, boho or rustic style.

Bedroom – behind a low linen-upholstered bed, the warm ivory and muted brown do not dominate in the evening under the warm glow of a bedside lamp, and whitewashed oak echoes the lightness of the background.

Restaurant – on a long wall above banquette seating, guests see the whole field of grasses from several metres away, while leather, walnut and brass echo the browns of the plumes.

How do I choose the size and material?

Each design is one large image printed to the size of your wall. You set the size, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. For a narrower wall, shift the crop so that it keeps the tall plume to the right of centre and the light space beside it.

• Mura Vinyl Intonaco – trowelled plaster texture; this textured material enhances the cloud-like streaks of the background, which shows especially in side light from a window.

As an alternative, choose Mura Vinyl Sabbia with its pronounced coarse sand grain texture – this material is neither smooth nor satin, and the grain on the light background is best appreciated from several metres away, for example in a restaurant. Mura Natur is an eco-friendly, matt, odourless and hypoallergenic non-woven; the matt finish keeps the subtle transitions between ivory and taupe free of glare.
