ALOE SHAWL - sage wall mural with flowing ginkgo for a bedroom

Pale sage, a cream leaf and bands of green laid diagonally across the wall resemble a shawl thrown over the back of an armchair. The movement runs from bottom left to top right, so the wall seems taller and lighter. It is a calm image for a bedroom, bathroom or living room in which you want green without a dark ground.

What can you see in the design?

The ground is pale sage-and-mint, with delicate vertical stripes. On the left of the image, from roughly one quarter to three quarters of the height, spreads a large, wavy ginkgo leaf drawn with cream lines. From its stalk diagonally towards the top right corner flow wide, silky ribbons of cream and jade-green threads; they are densest in the middle and on the right of the image, where the green becomes darkest. Lower down, right of centre, stands a smaller cream leaf, and by the bottom edge, in the middle, a leaf outlined with a thin peach line shows through. The upper left part stays almost empty, with a few thin green lines.

On a wall 260 cm high the large cream leaf is about 210 cm wide and about 140 cm high, roughly the width of a wide double bed. The smaller leaf on the right of the image is about 80 cm, and the peach leaf at the bottom about 135 cm wide.

Which interiors does it suit?

In a bedroom place a bed with a low headboard beneath the ribbons in the middle and on the right of the image, and leave the large leaf uncovered on the left. Cream bouclé fabric, jade linen and marble with green veining repeat the colours of the design. In a bathroom with pale green stone and a freestanding bath the pale ground and the diagonal movement of the threads suggest water and steam, and a low bath leaves both cream leaves uncovered. In a Scandinavian-style living room, with bleached oak and a cream armchair, the design brightens a room with a small window. Neighbouring walls in broken white and wood in a light shade go with the sage.

How do you choose the size and material?

The whole design is one image printed to the size of your wall; in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page you set the size, material and crop. The full image at a height of 260 cm is about 4.6 m wide. On a wall behind a bed about 3.5 m wide roughly three quarters of the image will fit, so you will keep the whole large leaf and most of the ribbons. On a narrower wall move the crop to the left if the leaf matters most, or to the right if you prefer the dense green of the threads.

For the pale ground with a thin line we recommend Mura Vinyl Canvas, with the texture of natural canvas, the most versatile, and Mura Vinyl Intonaco, with the texture of trowelled plaster, structured. On Canvas the vertical stripes of the ground blend with the canvas weave, and Intonaco gives the jade ribbons fine breaks of light.
