AMPHORA - terracotta ginkgo wall mural for a dining room

The warm, sandy beige and a huge, pale ginkgo fan in the middle make the wall behind the table look lit by the afternoon sun. Terracotta and rusty orange at the edges add warmth, but the dense drawing of veins stays light, so the dining room does not become heavy or dark.

What can you see in the design?

The motif is large ginkgo leaves drawn with hundreds of thin vein lines on a smooth background in sandy beige. The middle of the image and the upper part on the right are taken up by the largest leaf, in ivory, drawn in pale lines; its fan begins just below the top edge, and a thin stem drops towards the bottom edge. On a wall 260 cm high the cream fan alone is about 200 cm tall. On the left side of the image a terracotta leaf rises on a long, curved stem, cut off by the top edge, and behind it and lower down pale, beige outlines show through. Low in the middle and in the bottom right corner spread fans in rusty orange, cut off by the bottom and right edges. The upper right corner stays smooth. The leaves are semi-transparent: through the pale lines of the cream leaf you can see the orange outlines of those lying beneath.

Which interiors does it suit?

In a dining room the design looks best behind a round or oval table placed in the middle of the room: the cream leaf then stays whole above the tabletop, and the terracotta at the edges goes with walnut, rattan and ceramics. A floor of pale terrazzo, travertine or terracotta tiles repeats the beige of the background. In a hotel suite or a guest bedroom AMPHORA suits the wall behind a low bed with oat-coloured linen bedding; cinnamon velvet and honey-coloured glass pick up the rusty fans. In a boho or Mediterranean living room, place a low ivory-coloured sofa in front of the left, terracotta part of the wall and leave the middle with the pale leaf uncovered. In the evening, in the warm light of a small lamp on the table, the sandy background seems deeper, and the cream veins stand out more clearly from the beige.

How do you choose the size and material?

AMPHORA is a single image printed to the size of your wall, and you set the size, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. At a height of 260 cm the whole image is about 460 cm wide. On a narrower wall, move the crop so that the cream leaf stands above the middle of the table, or to the left if you prefer more terracotta.
