BAMBOO AND BONE - dark bamboo wall mural for the bathroom

Here, dark clumps of bamboo stand beside pale, feathery plants like an ink drawing next to its faded reflection. Between them lies plenty of calm, distressed background in grey-blue and sandy beige, so the wall gets a strong graphic line while the room stays calm. A bathroom or study becomes a place where it is easier to slow down.

What does the design show?

On the left of the image, within the first third of its width, grow two clumps of slender bamboo: almost black with a brownish tint, with thin stems and narrow leaves. They rise from the bottom edge and reach just over four fifths of the height. Further to the right, in the left half of the middle third and in the right third of the image, stand pale plants – white and cream, with thin, branching shoots ending in feathery tips. Pale sand-coloured silhouettes also show through in the right-hand group, adding depth to the composition, and a narrow strip of empty background remains between the groups. The upper half is grey-blue, distressed plaster with ochre patches, the lower half shifts into sandy beige, and a grey, distressed band runs along the very bottom edge. On a wall 260 cm high, the image is about 462 cm wide, the bamboo reaches about 220 cm, and the dark clumps take up about 155 cm of the width.

Which interiors does it suit?

In a bathroom with grey stone, concrete or light wood, the background echoes the colours of the materials, while the dark bamboo provides a single strong accent. When the bathtub or cabinet stands closer to the centre or the right side of the wall, the clumps on the left remain fully visible. In a japandi or classic study with a dark floor, leather and rattan, the sandy lower part of the image ties in with the browns of the furniture, and the empty background does not draw attention away from work. In an intimate restaurant, graphite benches and grey cement tiles blend with the tones of the plaster; on a wall about 4.6 m wide and 260 cm high, guests will see the whole composition, from the bamboo to the pale grasses. In diffused daylight, the grey-blue stays cool and the beige warm.

How do I choose the size and material?

This dark bamboo wall mural is one large image printed to the size of your wall. You set the size, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. On a narrower wall, decide whether the crop should keep the dark bamboo on the left or the pale group on the right – this defines the character of the room. We recommend two main materials. Mura Vinyl Canvas has a natural canvas weave and is the most versatile: the dark leaves look like a drawing on canvas. Mura Vinyl Intonaco has a trowelled plaster texture that brings out the distressed background; this is most visible on a wall seen up close, for example next to a bathtub. Alternatives are Mura Vinyl Sabbia, with a pronounced coarse sand grain that strengthens the sandy lower part of the image, and Mura Natur – an eco-friendly, matt, odourless and hypoallergenic non-woven on which the white of the shoots and the grey-blue plaster look soft and calm, without any sheen.
