Watercolour spreads beneath the leaves: greys, grey-blue and sage green mingle in the middle of the wall, and above them float ginkgo fans drawn with a fine line. The white background in the top corners and along the bottom edge leaves plenty of air, so the interior feels brighter, cooler and more spacious.

What can you see in the design?

The ginkgo leaves form a wide, dense band across the full width of the image. The white background stays visible in the top corners and along the bottom edge, from which thin, dark stalks grow. Each leaf has a fine, clear drawing of veins: dark, slate-blue fans interweave with white, cream and pale yellow ones, and the lightest lie in the middle of the upper part and in the right half of the image. Beneath the leaves, patches of grey, grey-blue and sage green spread out, strongest in the middle. On the left side of the image, in the lower half, there is an ochre patch with small splashes – the only warm accent in this cool palette. On a wall 260 cm high the largest leaves are about 130–170 cm wide, and the whole frame, in the proportions of the file, is about 450 cm.

Which interiors does it suit?

In a bathroom with a pale stone floor and a freestanding bath, the image on the wall behind the bath turns the wall into a calm, watercolour backdrop: the greys and sage go with limestone, white ceramics and linen towels, and the bath hides only the lower stalks. In a bedroom in a Japanese spirit, with a low platform bed, stone- and celadon-coloured bedding and a washi paper lamp, the white areas of the background in the top corners quieten the wall behind the bed. In a dressing room with a walnut floor and a pouf in dove grey, the light palette reflects the light and does not compete with the colours of the clothes. Because of its cool colours, the design looks best in rooms with plenty of daylight or with warm lamps, which warm the sage.

How do you choose the size and material?

We print the design to the size of your wall as a single image, and you set the crop yourself in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. The band of leaves runs across the full width, so on a narrower wall you keep its character whichever way the crop is shifted; just decide whether the ochre patch on the left side of the image should be included.
