CERULEAN GLIDE - kids’ wall mural with a whale among clouds

A light-blue sky full of billowing clouds and among them a white whale that swims so lightly it seems to weigh nothing. The design is cheerful and colourful but not loud: white and a warm ochre soften the blue, so in a child’s room the wall looks like a summer sky outside the window.

What does the design show?

In CERULEAN GLIDE the whale swims to the left, just above the middle of the image. It is white, with a grey-blue, striped throat; it stretches its tail out to the right and lowers a white fin at a slant. Small rust-coloured specks can be seen on the fin’s edge. The white of the back looks as if laid on with short touches of a brush and itself resembles a cloud.

The whole background is filled with clouds: white, blue and tinted with warm ochre. The brightest clusters lie at the top and at the sides, and just above the whale a band of pure blue opens up. Towards the bottom the sky darkens to cobalt and sea green. Short, dense brushstrokes and a canvas weave are visible. On a wall 260 cm high the image is about 460 cm wide, the whale about 2.6 m long, and its whole silhouette fits within a band from about 115 to about 200 cm above the floor.

BLUE YONDER has a similar layout, but there the blue is saturated, cobalt, the clouds swirl in long streaks and coral accents appear at the bottom. CERULEAN GLIDE is lighter and calmer, with ochre instead of coral. Choose this design for the room of a younger child or a bright playroom; BLUE YONDER suits a teenager’s room better.

Which room does it suit?

As a whale wallpaper mural for a school-age child’s room, CERULEAN GLIDE has a practical advantage: its hero swims high. A desk, a chest of drawers or a low bookcase, that is, furniture up to about 110 cm high, stay beneath it, and you can put a bunk bed against the side wall. Light birch, plywood, white bedding and a rug with blue stripes go with the blue.

In a playroom the ochre in the clouds ties in with warm materials: terracotta on the floor, an oak table, wicker. In a reading nook a narrower crop is enough, with the whale’s head and fin above a small armchair; fabric in blue and cream stripes and a seagrass basket complete the seaside character.

How do you choose the size and material?

We print CERULEAN GLIDE to the size of your wall as a single image. In the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page you enter the width and height, choose the material and move the crop. The clouds fill the image evenly, so you can move the crop freely; on a wall about 3 m wide the whole whale will fit.

First of all we recommend Mura Vinyl Canvas and Mura Vinyl Intonaco. Canvas has the weave of natural canvas and is the most versatile; this texture matches the weave you can see in the image itself. Intonaco has a trowelled plaster texture and is structured: the short brushstrokes in the clouds take on the unevenness of a real wall. Mura Vinyl Sabbia, an alternative with a pronounced coarse sand grain, is neither smooth nor satin; choose it when the wall should look more raw. The second alternative is Mura Natur, an eco-friendly non-woven, matt, odourless and hypoallergenic, whose matt finish suits the blues of the sky.

How can you buy with confidence?

Blue and ochre are a pair that is hard to judge on a phone screen. Order a sample first: a print of about 90 × 50 cm, on one or two materials, available from the product page and shipped in 1–3 working days. Put it next to your child’s furniture and check the colours and the texture of the material in daylight.

You can see the whole wall beforehand by creating an AI visualisation on a photo of your own room on the product page. On request our team will also prepare a studio visualisation in 1–2 working days, and the studio will adapt the composition, colours and crop of the design to the interior. We usually need 3–7 working days to complete an order, and shipping in Poland and Europe costs nothing; for other countries we charge it at the rate shown in the basket. We arrange installation anywhere in Europe on request, with an individual quote. Our printing is eco-friendly and certified.

All the whales swimming across the sky, from pastel to navy, are in the Sky Whales collection. If your child prefers other animals, browse wallpapers with animals, and if you are unsure about the size, use a consultation with the studio.
