CHALK GRASSES - mural with white grasses on a dark grey background

Pale grasses stand on a dark, warm grey, drawn in fine lines like chalk on slate. The wall becomes deeper and quieter, and the room gains a botanical motif without a single strong colour. In daylight the silvery white of the plumes stands out clearly against the background; under lamplight the contrast softens and the whole composition settles.

What does the design show?

Five tall plumes stand across the full width of the image: one on the left, the second left of centre, the third right in the middle, the fourth just right of centre, and the tallest on the right-hand side of the image. Between them grows dense grass with long, arching blades and thin leaves that reach all the way down to the bottom edge. The plants are lighter than the background: silvery white is drawn against dark taupe and warm grey. The background has a rubbed, stone-like texture with darker patches; it is darkest in the top left corner and along the left edge, which is why the plumes stand out most strongly there.

On a wall 260 cm high, the full image is about 464 cm wide. The feathery tops of the plumes are then about 90–110 cm long and stand about 80–90 cm apart, and the tallest reach almost to the ceiling. Up close you can see the drawing of individual leaves; from the other end of the room the grass blends into a soft, silvery haze.

Which interiors does it suit?

A dining room with a long table: the dark wall encloses the space, and the feathery plumes begin about 150 cm above the floor, so they are not lost behind the chair backs. Black chairs, grey stone and walnut work well here. A study or office: the monochrome motif does not distract from work and echoes the greys of leather armchairs and light oak, and above a low chest of drawers the grasses are visible at their full height. A hotel – a guest lounge, reception or wide corridor: a wall about 4.6 m wide and 260 cm high fits the whole image, with all five plumes in their full rhythm. This dark wall mural with white grasses looks best near a large window or in side light, which brings out the rubbed texture of the background.

How do I choose the size and material?

Each design is one large image printed to the size of your wall. You set the size, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. On a wall 260 cm high and about 3 m wide you will fit roughly three plumes; shift the crop to the right if you want to keep the tallest one, or to the left if you prefer the darkest part of the background.

• Mura Vinyl Canvas – a natural canvas weave texture and the most versatile material; it does not compete with the fine blades, so choose it when you see the wall up close, for example at the table.
• Mura Vinyl Intonaco – a trowelled plaster texture; this structured material goes well with the stone-like background and adds depth to the wall in side light.

As an alternative, consider Mura Vinyl Sabbia with its pronounced coarse sand grain texture – it is neither smooth nor satin and gives the greys a rough character – or Mura Natur, an eco-friendly non-woven: matt, odourless and hypoallergenic, on which the background keeps a calm, even look.

Before you order the whole wall, order a sample from the product page: a print of about 90 × 50 cm on one or two materials, which we dispatch within 1–3 working days. Hold it against the wall and see how the dark taupe and silvery white look in your light in the morning and in the evening, and compare the textures of the materials. On the product page you can also create an AI visualisation on a photo of your own room, and on request we will prepare a studio visualisation within 1–2 working days. If you want a lighter background or the plumes placed differently, the studio will adapt the composition, colours and crop to your interior.
