CHIFFON - pale wall mural with ginkgo leaves behind the bed

Cream-white ginkgo leaves drift across the wall lightly, like petals carried on warm air, and between them plenty of calm, misty background remains. The image brightens the room and quietens it at the same time, which is why it feels at home where the eye is meant to rest – behind the bed.

What can you see in the design?

Nine leaves on thin, curved stalks are scattered across the image from the lower left corner to the upper right, where one leaf is cut by the top edge. On the left of the image two leaves stand higher up and two lower down, near the bottom. In the middle the widest leaf opens out at roughly half the height, and above it, slightly to the left, another floats. On the right of the image two leaves form a loose pair, one above the other. The leaves have soft shadows and a painterly texture, and the stalks are darker than the background.

The background resembles mist: warm sand and beige at the top and at the sides turn into a cool, grey-blue shade in the lower half, and low down, in the left part of the middle, lies one dark, graphite patch. On a wall 260 cm high the image is about 460 cm wide, and a single leaf measures about 45–65 cm in height and 60–95 cm in width. The plentiful empty background between the leaves keeps the wall from feeling heavy.

Which interiors does it suit?

The wall behind the bed in a bedroom is the natural place for this design: a headboard up to about 80 cm high will cover at most the stalks and the lower parts of the two lowest leaves – on the left of the image and in its right part. White bedding, a cashmere throw in grey-blue and bleached oak repeat the colours of the image, and bright, seaside light emphasises its lightness.

In a bright bathroom with a marble floor and a matt white bath, the grey-blue lower part of the image goes with the veining of the stone. In a hallway or hall with pale terrazzo and birch furniture, the design will brighten a narrow interior, and a low console with a lamp will show the scale of the leaves. It suits minimalism, the Japandi style and interiors with a seaside feel.

How do you choose the size and material?

We print CHIFFON as a single image to the size of your wall, and you set the size, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. In a narrow hall choose the section with the pair of leaves from the right of the image or with the widest leaf in the middle – the composition is loose, so any crop will keep its lightness.
