CLOUDBREAK - whale wall mural for a bedroom and a teenager’s room

The clouds part, and in the gap a white whale floats, one fin spread like a wing. The wall becomes a view of a high sky in which cream light meets deep navy. It is an image with sweep, yet calm: the whale does not rush, it drifts.

What does the design show?

In the middle of the wall a white whale floats, turned with its head to the left and slightly upwards. It spreads one long fin like a wing, lowers the other, darker one, and raises its tail on the right of the image. Behind it, billowing clouds pile up, lit from within by a warm, creamy-yellow light; between them, mainly at the top and on the right, pale blue shows through. The left side of the image and the lower corners shade into deep navy with a few tiny bright points. The image has a painterly texture: it looks as though the paint had been laid on thickly with a broad brush.

On a wall 260 cm high the whole image is about 464 cm wide and the whale about 240 cm long. The tip of its lower fin falls about 85 cm above the floor.

A similar design from this collection, THUNDERHEAD, is darker and cooler: the whale is enclosed there by a ring of swirling clouds in turquoise and sea green, and the navy takes in the sides and the whole lower part. CLOUDBREAK has an open sky, pale blue and warm light. Choose it if you prefer a brighter wall, and the other if you are after a dark, stormy setting.

Which interior does it suit?

In a bedroom, put CLOUDBREAK behind a low bed: a headboard lower than about 85 cm will not cover any part of the whale, and the cream light of the clouds will pick up grey wool, walnut and smoked glass. In a study, the more serious side of the design counts: deep navy, brush marks and a warm glow that you can echo with a brass lamp. In a teenager’s room, something else matters: the whale looks realistic, without fairy-tale simplification, so the design is not childish, and the pale blue gives a sense of space.

The left side and the lower corners of the wall are navy; in weak light they may merge into one dark patch, so a lamp aimed at the wall will help. The whale is large: in a narrow room, choose a wall that can be seen from the far end, because you take in the whole only from a few steps away.

How do you choose the size and material?

We print CLOUDBREAK as one large image to the size of your wall, and you set the dimensions, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. With a height of 260 cm, the whole whale fits on a wall at least about 2.5 m wide; on a narrower one, move the crop to the head and fin.

We recommend Mura Vinyl Canvas and Mura Vinyl Intonaco first. The first has the weave of natural canvas and is the most versatile; its weave goes with the brush marks, so the wall resembles a large painting. The second, with a trowelled plaster texture, is structured and makes the clouds look like a painting on a wall. An alternative is Mura Vinyl Sabbia, with a pronounced coarse sand grain: it is neither smooth nor satin, and the grain is visible up close even on the pale clouds. A fourth option is Mura Natur, an eco-friendly non-woven, matt, odourless and hypoallergenic, whose matt finish suits the soft transitions between blue and navy.

How can you buy with confidence?

The creamy yellow of the clouds and the navy look different in daylight and under a lamp, so first look at a print at home. You order a sample from the product page: it is a print of about 90 × 50 cm on one or two materials, shipped in 1–3 working days. Hold it against the wall in the morning and in the evening, and judge the colours and the texture of the material.

You can create an AI visualisation on a photo of your own room yourself on the product page. On request our team will prepare a studio visualisation in 1–2 working days, and the studio will adapt the composition, colours and crop of the design to the interior. We usually complete an order in 3–7 working days; shipping is free in Poland and Europe, and charged at the basket rate for other countries. On request we arrange installation anywhere in Europe, with an individual quote. The printing is eco-friendly and certified.

The other whale designs, from cream to night sky, are gathered in the Sky Whales collection. You will find more compositions for the wall behind the bed among wallpapers for bedrooms, and a consultation with our studio will help you choose the crop and material.
