CROSSWIND - contrasting wall mural with windblown grasses

This wall does not stand still: the plumes lean in different directions, as if a side gust had swept through the room. Dark plumes beside cream ones create a clear contrast, while the grey background with water-like reflections calms the whole composition. The interior gains movement, and the palette stays cool and understated.

What does the design show?

On the left of the image stands a group of tall, dark plumes in an olive graphite shade, and beneath them, low down, grow creamy white plumes. In the centre rises a single dark plume, and to the right of centre a second, smaller one. High up to the right of centre and along the right edge, pale cream plumes reach upwards; the tallest of them bends to the right. At the bottom, across the full width, dark, sword-shaped reed leaves rise. The background is grey, with pale, wavy lines resembling reflections on water and a fine grain that you will see up close. The colours are only grey, cream and olive graphite. On a wall 260 cm high, the image is about 460 cm wide, the longest plumes on the left are about 110–120 cm, the dark plume in the centre about 85 cm, and the leaves at the bottom reach a height of about 90 cm.

Which interior does it suit?

In an industrial or modern living room, the dark plumes echo the graphite of the sofa and the concrete of the coffee table, while the cream ones brighten the wall above them. In a study with oak and tweed, most of the plumes rise above desk height, so the desk and armchair mainly cover the leaves and the lower part of the pale plumes on the left of the image. In a restaurant or a dining room at home, you view the wall from several metres away – from that distance the contrast of dark and pale plumes reads from the entrance, and up close you can see the grain of the background. The grey pairs well with a warm accent: in the dining room visualisation, this comes from pink chairs with dark legs and a wooden console.

How do I choose the size and material?

CROSSWIND is a windblown grasses wall mural: a single image printed to the size of your wall. You set the size, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page; on a narrower wall, decide whether the crop should keep the dark group on the left of the image or the pale plume by the right edge. The main materials are Mura Vinyl Canvas with a natural canvas weave, the most versatile option, on which the fine hairs of the plumes remain crisp, and Mura Vinyl Intonaco with a trowelled plaster texture, which gives the grey background a structure close to concrete and stone. As an alternative, consider Mura Vinyl Sabbia with its distinctive coarse sand grain – it is neither smooth nor satin and enhances the grain of the background, which you will appreciate when viewing the wall up close – or Mura Natur, an eco-friendly matt non-woven, odourless and hypoallergenic, on which the contrast of the plumes stays calm.
