CUBIST RIVIERA - geometric abstract wall mural in turquoise and cream

Soft, worn planes of turquoise and cream settle on the wall like sun-warmed walls and pieces of sea between them. A large, creamy-white field brightens the room, and no dark colour closes it in. Three accents in the colour of gold warm the cool palette.

What can you see in the design?

CUBIST RIVIERA is a painterly abstraction with gentle edges: the fields overlap and show through each other, as if applied in layers and rubbed through in places. The most space is taken by a large creamy-white rectangle slightly to the right of the middle of the wall. To its right adjoins a solid turquoise field reaching the edge of the image, and beneath the rectangle lies another turquoise field.

The colour of gold appears in three places: a triangle on the left at half height, a vertical wedge at the top in the middle and a slanting band in the top right corner. In the image the gold fields have an uneven surface that looks crumpled. The top left corner is the lightest, pale turquoise with beige rubbed-through areas. The darkest turquoise gathers in the bottom left corner and in a narrow vertical in the middle of the wall.

It shares a palette with PAPER PRISM, but not its character: there the edges are sharp and converge at one point, here the composition is held by a calm rectangle, and the fields have blurred edges. HARBOUR COLLAGE is darker and has a horizon line of gold bands; in this design the gold keeps to the top and the left side.

What kind of interior does it suit?

In a dining room the cream field falls above the table and stays light in the evening too, under the warm light of a lamp. A stone tabletop, woven cane, brass and linen go with it: warm materials that balance the coolness of the turquoise.

In a study or an office, position the desk so that the cream rectangle stays behind the person sitting. A light, calm background looks good in the camera frame during video calls.

In a hallway all it needs is a low bench and one lamp; the design is seen there in motion and from close up, so you see the painterly rubbed-through areas and the transitions between shades of turquoise. Its associations with Cubism and the Mediterranean coast bring this abstract wall mural close to modernist interiors, whitewashed walls and Art Deco.

How do you choose the size and material?

You order one image for the whole wall, printed to its size. In the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page you enter the width and height, choose the material and set the crop. The full composition has a 16:9 ratio, that is about 462 cm wide at a height of 260 cm; the cream rectangle is then about 140 cm wide, and the gold triangle on the left about 80 cm. On a narrower wall decide what stays in the crop: the rectangle with the turquoise field, or the left part with the gold triangle.
