DEWFALL - pastel wall mural with ginkgo leaves for a bathroom

A very pale celadon ground and a drawing so delicate that from afar it resembles dew on a windowpane fill the wall with light instead of colour. One distinct jade leaf in the middle gives the composition a point of support, and the rest dissolves into minty white. It is a design for rooms where you want to rest: a bathroom, a dining room with a large window or a hotel room.

What can you see in the design?

The ground is a pale celadon-and-cream, almost without texture. In the upper half, in the middle, rises a distinct, wavy ginkgo leaf drawn with a jade-green line; its long stalk descends in a gentle arc all the way to the bottom edge. On the right of the image, at mid-height, stands a second, paler green leaf, partly overlaid by white outlines. Around them, across the whole width, flow translucent, mint-white outlines of leaves and streaks of threads, and thin peach lines show through behind the middle leaf. In the upper left and lower left corners plenty of free ground remains, giving the image room to breathe.

On a wall 260 cm high the whole image is about 4.6 m wide, and the jade leaf about 175 cm wide and about 110 cm high – so it takes up roughly one third of the width. The green leaf on the right of the image is about 90 cm wide, and together with the white leaf outline overlapping it about 140 cm.

Which interiors does it suit?

In a bathroom with pale wood and an oval stone bath in front of the wall, the bath hides only the calm lower part of the image, and the jade leaf stays whole above it. The delicate palette goes with hinoki wood, grey stone and a wooden lattice in the window. In a Gustavian-style dining room, with a grey floor, bleached oak and chairs upholstered in celadon linen, the design repeats the colours of the furniture and does not dominate the table. In a hotel room or spa area the pale ground and minty outlines quieten the interior, and the wall behind a daybed or bed becomes a backdrop for rest. It looks best in rooms with daylight, a white ceiling and a pale floor.

How do you choose the size and material?

DEWFALL is one large image that we print to the size of your wall. You set the size, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. On a wall about 2.8 m wide and 260 cm high a little over half of the image will fit: set the crop so that the jade leaf is in the middle of the wall or above the bath.

With such a delicate drawing, the material matters a great deal. Mura Vinyl Canvas, with the texture of natural canvas, is the most versatile and gives the pale ground a light weave, while Mura Vinyl Intonaco, with the texture of trowelled plaster, is structured, so in side light the pale wall gains the depth of plaster. As an alternative consider Mura Vinyl Sabbia, with a pronounced coarse sand grain, neither smooth nor satin – the grain is more distinct than the finest lines of the design, so choose it if you view the wall from afar. Mura Natur is an eco-friendly non-woven, matt, odourless and hypoallergenic; on the matt surface the mint outlines stay most translucent.
