EMERALD THICKET - a painted wallpaper featuring woodland animals

A dense, painted panorama of the forest, where several animals gaze directly at the viewer — rendered in a watercolor style, with a palette of mint and bottle greens, beiges, and russets. The composition is distinctly horizontal, filling the entire wall space without empty areas: the trunks in the background create a vertical rhythm, while the foreground is framed by a band of leaves, ferns, and mushrooms. This is a narrative pattern, designed for close viewing and discovering more characters.

What exactly can be seen in the pattern

The center features a bright elephant adorned with a botanical ornament, with a bird perched on its back. Surrounding it are: a deer with sprawling antlers, another deer on the right, a red fox holding a cup in its paw, a cream bear with closed eyes, a badger holding its young, a hare, a giraffe, a hedgehog, a squirrel, a turtle, and a lizard, as well as four owls positioned throughout the frame. Completing the scene are small birds on branches, orange butterflies, a dragonfly, fly agarics, and white lotus flowers in the lower band. The animals' faces are simplified, with round eyes and rosy cheeks — devoid of elements that might disturb the youngest viewers. The texture is distinctly painterly: brush strokes, smudges, and fine dotted splashes remain clear in print.

Which interiors it suits

The pattern has many details, so it works best on a single wall — typically behind a bed, above a play area, or next to a bookshelf. The remaining walls should be left in bright white, cream, or softened sage; these colors are echoed in the background of the illustration. Since green predominates, wood in the shade of natural oak and linen textiles in beige fit into the same tone. The motif is gender-neutral and does not age with the child as quickly as patterns featuring cartoon characters: it suits from a nursery to early school age, as well as in a preschool room or reading nook. If you're looking for a calmer alternative with a similar technique, check out watercolor wall murals with soft, blurred backgrounds, and other motifs designed for the youngest can be found in the children's room collection.

Scale, cropping, and material

The graphic does not have a repeatable pattern — it is one continuous image, scaled to the size of the wall. The silhouette of the elephant occupies about one-third of the frame's width, so with a typical wall width of around four meters, the main animals reach a height similar to that of a preschooler. On a narrower wall, the frame can be shifted sideways, but it's worth keeping the full silhouette of the deer and fox, as they establish the axis of the composition. The lower band with mushrooms and flowers withstands being obscured by a bed or dresser.

For this illustration, we recommend the Mura Vinyl Pennello substrate — a matte finish with a delicate brush texture that does not reflect light and emphasizes the painterly character of the strokes. The matte surface also facilitates viewing details at an angle, without reflections from the ceiling lamp. Before ordering the entire wall, you can request a sample of the material with a fragment of the pattern to assess the saturation of greens in your lighting.
