What does the design show?

The image is divided by colour temperature. The left half has a background in shades of warm sand and creamy beige, against which stand cream trees with feathery, openwork crowns. The right half is cool: the background shifts into a pale blue grey, and the trees here are the lightest, almost white. The transition falls roughly in the middle – this is where the mist holds the most blue and the trunks thin out, so the centre of the wall stays lighter. Near the right edge of the image stands a tall, straight white trunk, while along the left edge you can see vertical, cream-coloured scuffs reminiscent of old plaster. Along the bottom, across the full width, runs a misty band of fine white twigs, brightest on the right-hand side of the image. On a wall 260 cm high, the image is about 460 cm wide, the tallest trees reach about 220–260 cm, and the band of undergrowth takes up roughly the bottom 40 cm. The branches are as fine as a pen line: up close you will see a meticulous illustration with a painterly texture, and from a few metres away a bright, calm ornament.

Which interiors does it suit?

Its most natural place is a living room with light furniture: a linen sofa, oak, travertine or stone echo both background colours. If the window is on the right of the wall, the cool, lighter half of the image will sit closer to the light and the warm beige further into the room – the background colours will then flow smoothly from the glass into the interior. In a hotel lobby or an entrance hall, EQUINOX creates a wall without a dominant motif: guests take in the whole forest from a few metres away, and low armchairs or a console table cover only the lower parts of the trunks, not the crowns. The design suits Japandi style, Scandinavian simplicity and quiet luxury, where furniture is low and accessories come in the colours of cream wool, grey felt and pale wood. Strongly saturated colours nearby will overwhelm the delicate transition of the background, so it is better to go for subdued textiles.

How do I choose the size and material?

EQUINOX is a single image printed to the size of your wall. You set the size, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. For a narrower wall, decide which part you want to keep: the sandy side with cream crowns or the blue grey side with the white trunk at the edge. The main materials are Mura Vinyl Canvas with a natural canvas weave – the most versatile, adding a delicate weave to the fine branches – and Mura Vinyl Intonaco with a trowelled plaster texture, which brings out the scuffs along the left edge and gives the mist the character of an old wall. As an alternative, consider Mura Vinyl Sabbia with its pronounced coarse sand grain – best on a wide hallway wall viewed from a few metres away, because up close the grain competes with the finest twigs – or Mura Natur, an eco-friendly, matt and odourless non-woven, on which the pastel colour transition looks softest.

Before you order the whole wall, order a sample: a print of about 90 × 50 cm on one or two materials, which we dispatch within 1–3 working days. Hold it against the wall in daylight and in evening light, and check how the colours of the design look next to your furniture and what texture the chosen material has.
