FLINT RUNNER - galloping horse wall mural for library and living room

A pale horse emerges from the dark, graphite-olive side of the wall towards sandy light. The image has two halves, a heavier and a lighter one, so the room gains a direction: the eye travels from the gloom on the left to the horse's head on the right.

What can you see in the design?

FLINT RUNNER is a grey horse galloping to the right across the whole width of the image. The head is on the right, in the upper half, close to the edge: the ears reach almost to the top edge, and the muzzle with dark nostrils drops to half the height. The pale mane trails behind the head to the left and blurs into the background. The torso is creamy white, with grey and brown shadows; a darker front leg reaches down towards the right part of the bottom edge, and the other is bent at the knee. The left part of the image is filled with abstract planes of graphite, olive and navy with rusty worn patches, in which the horse's rump stops being legible. The right side is light, the colour of sand. The paint looks as if laid on and scraped back with a palette knife. On a wall 260 cm high with the full crop (about 464 cm wide), the head measures about 120 cm from ears to nostrils, and about 50 cm of background remains between it and the right edge.

How do you recognise this design among similar ones?

It is the only one of the abstract horses in motion that runs to the right. FACETED LEAP leaps to the left on a cream ground and has a dark head, PATINA WALKER walks to the left with its head lowered, and NECK AND NECK has two horses. Here dark tones dominate: graphite and olive take up almost half of the image.

Which interior does it suit?

A library with a dark oak floor and low shelves along the side walls is a natural place for this palette: an armchair in olive leather and a graphite rug stand in front of the dark part of the image and almost merge with it. In a loft-style living room, a long sofa in graphite linen will cover only the lower band of abstraction and the hind legs, and the pale torso will stay above its backrest. The design also suits a hotel bar or lobby with olive velvet, brass and marble. There is one rule for arranging things: furniture and lamps on the left and in the middle, the right quarter of the wall empty. Do not put a tall lamp or plant there, because they would cover the head and mane.

How do you choose the size and material?

We print one image to the size of your wall. In the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page you enter the dimensions, choose the material and move the crop. If the wall is less than about 4.6 m wide at a height of 260 cm, trim the dark left side and keep the right side with the head whole.

As the main materials we recommend Mura Vinyl Canvas – the most versatile material, with the texture of natural canvas – and Mura Vinyl Intonaco, structured, with the texture of trowelled plaster. Plaster adds the roughness of an old wall to the scraped, dark planes, and canvas brings the whole closer to a picture seen from a few steps away. Dark tones are best judged at home, in the evening and in daylight. That is what a sample is for: a print of about 90 × 50 cm on one or two materials, which you order from the product page and we send within 1–3 working days. On it you will see the colours and the texture of the material next to your own floor. On the product page you can prepare an AI visualisation on a photo of your own room yourself; we make a studio visualisation on request within 1–2 working days. When the composition, colours or crop need changing, the studio will adapt them at your request. Orders are usually completed in 3–7 working days.
