HERBARIUM - ginkgo wall mural in beige and grey

The wall looks like an open herbarium page with dried leaves laid out on it: beige, cream and slate fans overlap at different angles, and thin stalks cross low above the floor. The pale grey base gives the room line and movement without taking away its light.

What can you see in the design?

The motif is large, fan-shaped ginkgo leaves, each drawn with a dense, fine network of vein lines that radiate from the base. The leaves are scattered across the whole surface with no single centre to the composition, and in the lower half their long, dark stalks cross and run towards the bottom edge. Fans in sandy beige, cream and white predominate, with ochre and brown streaks that look like watercolour stains. Between them lie slate, grey-blue leaves and patches – darkest by the left edge of the image, at the top and at the bottom, and in the right part of the middle. The background is pale grey, with a delicate, rough texture in the drawing itself, and in the top band pale, barely marked leaves show through. On a wall 260 cm high, the largest fans are about 100–145 cm wide, and the whole image, in the proportions of the file, is about 450 cm wide.

Which interiors does it suit?

A study with a dark oak parquet floor and a walnut desk is where this design shows its character: the ochre streaks on the leaves echo the warmth of the wood and brass, and the grey-blue fans calm the wall above the desktop. A desk placed parallel to the wall hides only the lower stalks. In a bedroom with pale ash wood, oat-coloured linen and sandy bedding, the image behind a low headboard gives plenty of linework without strong contrasts, so it does not tire the eyes in the evening. In a hall with a stone floor, a narrow console and a bench with a woven seat, the large leaves show their scale even on a short stretch of wall. The pale grey background goes equally well with the cool white of neighbouring walls and with a warm, broken beige; the design suits classic and Scandinavian interiors and flats in old townhouses.

How do you choose the size and material?

The whole design is a single image printed to the size of your wall. You choose the width, height, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. On a wall narrower than about 450 cm, move the crop to the left if you want to keep the dark slate leaves at the edge, or towards the middle, where the sandy fans predominate. The main materials are Mura Vinyl Canvas, with the texture of natural canvas, the most versatile – its fine weave goes well with the rough look of the background – and Mura Vinyl Intonaco, with the texture of trowelled plaster, a structured material on which the watercolour streaks gain depth in raking light. As alternatives, choose Mura Vinyl Sabbia, with a pronounced coarse sand grain, neither smooth nor satin, which looks best viewed from a few metres away, or Mura Natur, an eco-friendly non-woven – matt, odourless and hypoallergenic – on which the thin vein lines stay crisp.

Before you decide on the whole wall, order a sample from the product page: a print of about 90 × 50 cm on one or two materials, which we ship in 1–3 working days. Hold it against the wall in daylight and in the evening light: you will see how the beiges and slate greys look next to your wood and fabrics, and you can compare the textures of the materials. On the product page you can also create an AI visualisation on a photo of your own room yourself; if you prefer, we will prepare a studio visualisation in 1–2 working days. On request, the studio will adjust the composition, colours and crop of the design to the interior, for example by lightening the slate patches.
