Dense, pale grasses on a grey background look like a meadow covered in hoarfrost on a freezing morning. The wall stops being a flat surface and becomes a calm, cool curtain of plumes. What does the design show?

The design is drawn like a negative: pale, silvery-white plumes and thin blades stand out against a darker, grey-taupe background. The plants stand upright and evenly, side by side, from the bottom edge to the top and from the left side of the image to the right, with no empty gaps. The linework resembles an engraving or frost settled on grass – each plume is made up of many thin, feathery lines, and lower down you can see tangled stems. The background is darkest at the top centre, and up close a fine, dotted texture is visible on it. On a wall 260 cm high, the image is about 462 cm wide, the tallest plumes reach the top edge and are cropped by it, and a single feathery plume is about 100–130 cm tall. The clumps repeat roughly every 60–70 cm, so even on a wall 2 m wide about three clumps will fit in the frame.

Which interior does it suit?

In a hotel room or a mountain apartment, the cool grey of the plumes works with larch, grey wool and sheepskin. A low bed will hide only the thin lower stems, and the plumes will remain visible above the headboard. In a home library with dark oak, leather and tweed, the pale grasses brighten the wall without introducing a new colour; place low furniture in front of it, such as an armchair, a pouffe and a side table with a lamp, and the design will be visible from corner to corner. In a dressing room with grey velvet and frosted glass, you view the fine linework of the plumes from 1–2 m away while standing at the mirror, so every blade is visible. The design also suits a bright living room with linen and wickerwork – in the visualisation you will see the plumes reaching high above the back of the sofa. In a north-facing room the background will look cooler, while in the warm light of lamps it will take on a taupe tone.

How do I choose the size and material?

HOARFROST is a single image printed to the size of your wall. You enter the width and height in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page and set the crop there – for example, so that the darker part of the background at the top centre falls above the bed or sofa. The main materials are Mura Vinyl Canvas with a natural canvas weave, the most versatile, whose fine texture does not compete with the thin lines of the blades when viewed up close, and Mura Vinyl Intonaco with a trowelled plaster texture, which blends with the dotted background and strengthens the impression of frost on a rough surface. As an alternative, consider Mura Vinyl Sabbia with a pronounced coarse sand grain, which adds depth to the background on a wall viewed from several metres away, for example in a hotel lobby, or Mura Natur – an eco-friendly, matt, odourless and hypoallergenic non-woven material, on which the grey of the background looks soft and calm.

Hold it against the wall in daylight and in the evening – you will see how the grey-taupe background and the silvery white of the plumes look next to your furniture, and which material texture suits you.
