INDIGO FOLIO - wall mural with navy ginkgo leaves for a study

Navy ginkgo leaves run along the top of the wall like a frieze, and beneath them plenty of pale, cream background remains. The weight of colour is high up, the middle breathes, and the lower part stays calm for furniture. It is a design for interiors where you like brightness and one strong accent.

What can you see in the design?

The upper part of the image, from the left edge almost to the middle, is taken up by a band of navy leaves in an indigo shade. They have a blurred, painterly texture and small ochre flecks, and the leaf nearest the middle ends in a ragged, almost black edge. On the right of the image at the top stands one more navy leaf on its own, with a grey-violet tint and a very dark edge. The background is creamy ivory with a vertical, canvas-like texture and an ochre tinge by the top edge; the middle and the right side remain largely pale and empty. Low on the right a large grey-blue leaf spreads out, and in the lower left corner small navy patches mingle with powder pink and ochre. The leaves hang on thin, dark stalks. On a wall 260 cm high the band of navy is about 2.6 m long, the largest leaf in it about 115 cm wide, and the grey-blue leaf takes up a strip from about 35 to about 110 cm above the floor.

Which interiors does it suit?

Study. The pale middle of the wall does not tire the eyes at the desk, and the navy at the top gives the room gravitas. Walnut, oak and cognac-coloured leather repeat the ochre tinge of the background. In the setting in an Arts and Crafts house in Pasadena, a low desk stands beneath the empty middle, and a navy throw on a Windsor chair repeats the colour of the leaves.

Bedroom. Ivory and indigo go with undyed linen, pale wood and a navy throw. A very low bed in the Japanese style leaves almost the whole image visible, and the pale background above the headboard does not shut the room in during the evening.

Bathroom. By a freestanding bath the cream background goes with the pale stone of the floor and white cast iron, and the brass of the taps picks up the ochre flecks. For a shorter wall, a crop with just the band of navy leaves is enough.

How do you choose the size and material?

INDIGO FOLIO is a single large image printed to the size of your wall; at a height of 260 cm the whole design is about 4.6 m wide. You choose the size, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. On a wall about 3 m wide, a crop from the left edge will keep the whole band of navy leaves; if the grey-blue leaf low on the right matters to you, move the crop to the right.

Indigo and ivory depend heavily on the colour of the light, so before ordering the whole wall, order a sample from the product page: a print of about 90 × 50 cm on one or two materials, which we ship in 1–3 working days. On the sample you can check the colours and the texture of the material at home, at the desk or by the bed. You can create an AI visualisation on a photo of your own room yourself on the product page, and we will make a studio visualisation on request in 1–2 working days. If you want less empty background, or the navy lower down, the studio will adjust the composition, colours and crop to your interior.
