LILAC STUCCO - lilac wall mural with ginkgo leaves for a bedroom

A row of pale ginkgo leaves rises from lilac, worn plaster and unfolds in grey-blue light, as if the imprint of a summer garden had been left on an old wall. The design softens a room with pastels and plenty of calm background, and the peeling plaster here is part of the image, not of the wall.

What can you see in the design?

Across the full width of the image, in the middle band, stand a dozen or so ginkgo leaves on long, thin stalks. They are translucent, cream with a peachy tint, and drawn with dense white vein lines, so the background shows through every fan. The two largest leaves reach highest: one to the left of centre, the other in the right part of the image; several smaller ones are cut off by the left edge.

The background falls into three bands. At the top is a pale, almost white grey, below it a grey-blue middle, and the lower third is filled with lilac-pink plaster with peeling flakes and warm, sandy glimpses showing through. On a wall 260 cm high, about 60 cm of empty background remains above the highest leaves, the largest fans are about 90 cm wide, and the band of plaster rises about 90 cm from the floor.

Which interiors does it suit?

Bedroom. The lilac grey and cream go with linen bedding, heather-coloured velvet and pale oak. A low headboard will hide only the band of plaster, and the leaves will remain above your head like a frieze. In the room setting you can see it in an Art Nouveau townhouse in Vienna, with a herringbone parquet floor and a bed in lilac-grey velvet.

Dressing room. The powder pink of the lower band warms the light by the mirror and works with terrazzo, pale oak and a bouclé pouffe in a muted pink. A wall without wardrobes, with only a low dressing table in front of it, will show the whole row of leaves, while the wardrobes stay on the side wall.

Hall and entrance hall. The pale top of the image brightens a narrow entrance without a window, and a low oak console with a ceramic bowl will stand by the band of plaster, under the leaves. A black-and-white floor and the grey wool of a bench will emphasise the cool part of the palette.

How do you choose the size and material?

LILAC STUCCO is one large image printed to the size of your wall; at a height of 260 cm the entire design is about 4.6 m wide. On a narrower wall, move the crop so that both of the highest leaves stay in, or choose one side of the row.
