MOSSY GLADE - a forest glade with animals in watercolor

MOSSY GLADE is a painted illustration of a forest glade: among tall trunks, ferns, and blooming grasses stand a deer, foxes, a bear, a squirrel, hares, and small creatures with simplified, friendly faces. The technique is watercolor and gouache, with visible brush texture and soft color transitions, while the palette is based on cool greens and blues of the background and warm russets and oranges of the animals. The composition is distinctly horizontal and intended for one longer wall.

What exactly can be seen in the pattern

The scene has three planes. The top is occupied by slender trunks and a misty, illuminated depth of the forest in pale blue — this is the brightest part of the graphic. The middle features a strip of grass where the main characters are positioned: the deer with antlers on the right, the bear and fox in the center, and a large hare in the middle of the frame. The bottom is filled with dense forest undergrowth with rust-colored leaves, yellow flowers, and red toadstools. The motif is not reported — it is a single closed illustration, so it is worth planning it for the full width of the wall rather than as a repeating pattern.

What scale and cropping

The animals in the middle plane occupy roughly one third of the height of the pattern, so on a standard wall, the deer and hare have a scale similar to that of a preschooler — a child recognizes them up close and from the other end of the room. Most details are in the lower part, so the pattern should not be cropped from the bottom if a tall dresser is to stand there. Near a crib or sofa, it is better to raise the frame so that the strip with characters falls above the backrest.
