NECK AND NECK - leaping horses wall mural for living room

Two horses leap neck and neck, and each of their heads measures over a metre on the wall. An image like this changes the scale of a room: a living room or a restaurant hall gains a monumental, warmly coloured focal point, next to which the rest of the decor can stay simple.

What can you see in the design?

In NECK AND NECK both horses face left. The brown one runs behind: its head fills the upper left corner, the ears touch the top edge, and the dark muzzle comes close to the left. The white one is in front, right beside it; its head, with ears pricked, drops from the upper part of the image to about two thirds of the height. The white mane flows back over a curved neck, and the torso with tucked front legs fills the middle. Grey-green and beige shadows show on the white coat. The left side of the background is pale, beige and cream. The right is filled with abstract, rectangular planes of turquoise, rust, brown and navy, in which the rump and hind legs vanish. The whole has the texture of a worn, layered surface. On a wall 260 cm high with the full crop (about 464 cm wide), the head of the brown horse measures about 140 cm, that of the white one about 125 cm, and the muzzle of the white horse sits about 90 cm above the floor.

What sets this design apart in the collection?

Among the abstract horses in motion, this is the only design with two animals. FACETED LEAP, FLINT RUNNER and PATINA WALKER each show a single horse with torso and legs. Here the crop is tight: what counts is two heads and a neck, not the whole run.

Which interior does it suit?

In a living room with a walnut parquet floor, a sofa in rust-coloured velvet stands in front of the right half of the wall, against the coloured planes, and takes on their colour. In a library one armchair in turquoise leather on the right is enough: next to it you can see how large the heads are. In a restaurant, a bench in cognac leather and tables with white tablecloths stand under the abstract part of the image and the lower part of the white horse. In all three cases the left 40 per cent of the wall stays empty. The muzzle of the white horse comes down low, so even the back of a sofa or a table lamp placed on the left would cover part of the head.

How do you choose the size and material?

You order a single image printed to the size of your wall. You determine the dimensions, material and position of the crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. Both heads fit within the left 150 cm or so of the image (at a height of 260 cm), so on a narrower wall shorten the design only from the right.

The main materials are Mura Vinyl Canvas and Mura Vinyl Intonaco. The first, the most versatile, has the texture of natural canvas, on which the softly modelled heads look like a fragment of a large picture. The second is structured, with the texture of trowelled plaster, and suits the worn planes on the right. The alternatives are Mura Vinyl Sabbia, a pronounced coarse sand grain texture that is neither smooth nor satin, and Mura Natur – an eco-friendly non-woven, matt, odourless, hypoallergenic.

How do you buy with confidence?

With such a large motif it is worth checking two things: colour and scale. The colour will be shown by a sample – a print of about 90 × 50 cm, on one or two materials, ordered from the product page and sent within 1–3 working days; you can judge the texture of the material on it as well. You can check the scale in an AI visualisation on a photo of your own room, which you make yourself on the product page. We prepare a studio visualisation on request within 1–2 working days, and at your request the studio will adapt the composition, colours and crop of the design to the interior. We usually complete orders in 3–7 working days and ship free in Poland and Europe; to other countries at the basket rate.
