OLIVE FEN - reed wall mural in shades of grey and olive

Dense reed heads fill the wall from the top edge to the bottom, yet they never dominate the room: the dark reeds on the left gradually dissolve into a pale, misty grey on the right. The interior gains a botanical backdrop without strong colours, one that quietens the space and gives the eye room to rest.

What does the design show?

On the left of the image, running down from the top edge, grows a dense clump of dark, olive-grey reed heads – the most defined part of the design. In the centre, two smaller dark reed heads lean in from below; the lower one bends to the right. On the right of the image stand two tall reed heads, lighter and more blurred, while pale cream, feathery plumes appear in the bottom right corner. The background is a grey, rubbed texture with cloud-like streaks, darkest in the upper centre.

The palette is grey, olive green, graphite and cream. This reed wall mural in grey and olive has no single focal point: it moves from a dark, crisp drawing to a pale mist, so the wall looks like a stand of reeds seen against the light. On a wall 260 cm high, the reed heads of the left-hand clump reach about 150 cm down from the top edge, and the two central ones are about 135 and 115 cm tall.

Which interiors does it suit?

Living room. The greys and olive work well with oak flooring, walnut, linen and stone-coloured bouclé. Place the darker, left-hand section behind a sofa or armchair and the lighter section closer to the window – the design then follows the daylight falling from the side.

Bedroom. The muted, monochrome palette is never distracting, and the reed heads above the headboard create a soft backdrop for a low bed and linen bedding in olive or cream. It suits the Japandi style and natural minimalism, especially in diffused light.

Study and meeting room. On a wall about 4.6 m wide, the whole progression from the dark clump to the mist is visible, and a botanical motif without strong colour does not draw attention away from the conversation. It looks good with pale stone, ash and grey felt chairs.

How do you choose the size and material?

On a wall 260 cm high, the full design is about 4.6 m wide; on a narrower wall, choose in the crop whether to keep the dark clump on the left or the misty reed heads on the right.
