OPALINE GILT - marble wall mural with gold veins for bedrooms

The wall looks like one huge, pale slab of marble with thin gold veins spreading across it. White and cool blue brighten the room, and a single darker, turquoise patch on the left of the image keeps the background from feeling flat. It is a calm design for interiors that should be full of light.

What can you see in the design?

OPALINE GILT is an abstract composition with the look of pale marble: a network of gold veins cuts across the white and blue background, dividing the wall into several large, irregular fields. The darkest accent, a turquoise-blue patch, sits against the left edge at mid-height and, on a wall 260 cm high, is about 100 cm wide. Just above it, in the top left corner, gold dust gathers. The centre of the image is the lightest, almost white. From the bottom edge, to the left of centre, the widest gold vein rises in an arc: it runs to the right and, near the right edge, drops towards the bottom corner, about 3.7 m in all. Cool blue returns at the right edge. Up close you can see a fine painterly texture reminiscent of palette-knife marks – it is part of the image, not a relief on the wall.

A similar design from this collection, CELADON KINTSUGI, is celadon green and even in tone, with no dark patch, and its veins meet in a single knot in the middle. OPALINE GILT is cooler, white and blue, with a dark accent on the left and a wide gold vein along the bottom.

What kind of interior does it suit?

It is easiest to picture behind a bed. In our room setting it covers the wall of a bedroom in a Paris apartment building: a low bed with a cream headboard hides only the lower part, while the blue clouds and gold veins stay above it. Pale oak, linen and brass lamps echo the warmth of the gold. The second suggestion is a bathroom with a white stone floor and a freestanding bath – this is aesthetic advice: you view the design there from a few steps away, so a large pattern matters, and the pale background does not take light away from the room. The third is an entrance hall, where a section with one or two veins is enough above a slim console table. This gold vein marble wall mural suits a light glamour style, Scandinavian interiors and hotel rooms in which the wall behind the bed is meant to be calming.

How do you choose the size and material?

This is one large image, printed to the size of your wall, with no repeats. In the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page you set the size, material and crop – including whether the turquoise patch stays in it. The file has a 16:9 aspect ratio, so at a height of 260 cm the whole design is about 460 cm wide; on a narrower wall you choose the left part with the dark accent, or the centre and the right-hand side: white, blue and gold.

We recommend above all Mura Vinyl Canvas, the most versatile, with a natural canvas weave, and Mura Vinyl Intonaco, the structured one, with a trowelled plaster texture. On canvas the marble pattern looks more like a picture, while plaster gives the pale fields a texture that shows in side light.
