OVERCAST - ginkgo wall mural under a grey sky for a study

A cool grey sky settles onto a white mist, and from beneath it emerges a dense bank of pale leaves – like a landscape on a cloudy, quiet day. The wall gains a distinct horizon that organises the interior and calms it, which you will appreciate in a study, where concentration matters more than strong colour.

What can you see in the design?

The upper two fifths of the image are taken by a smooth, cool grey background. At the border with the leaves it turns into a white, billowing mist, and beneath it, across the whole width, spreads a dense bank of ginkgo leaves in cream, white and sandy beige, on thin, branching stalks. The upper line of the leaves undulates: it rises highest by the left edge, in the middle and in the right part of the image. Towards the bottom edge the colour darkens to a warm, sandy beige, and the leaves merge into a soft, painterly texture.

The distinct border between the grey sky and the pale leaves looks like a horizon in the mist and remains visible even when furniture stands in front of the wall. On a wall 260 cm high the band of grey sky is about 100 cm, and individual leaves are about 10–20 cm wide.

Which interiors does it suit?

Study. The grey of the sky goes with a dark oak parquet, walnut and grey wool, as in the study setting in a London brutalist flat. A low walnut bench will cover only the sandy band, and the mist and leaves will remain uncovered above it.

Living room. In a Scandinavian interior with whitewashed oak, a grey sofa and a wool throw, the design resembles a view of water on a cloudy day and suits the diffused, cool light from a north-facing window.

Dressing room. In a small room with dark herringbone parquet and a velvet bench in dove grey, the design gives a backdrop that repeats the colour of the fabrics and does not compete with the clothes.

How do you choose the size and material?

You order OVERCAST as one large image printed to the size of your wall; you set the size, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. The full width of the design at a height of 260 cm is about 4.6 m. Because the horizon runs across the whole image, a crop from any part will keep the division into grey sky, mist and bank of leaves.

• Mura Vinyl Canvas – the texture of natural canvas, the most versatile; on the smooth grey sky the weave gives a subtle pattern visible up close.
• Mura Vinyl Intonaco – a structured material with the texture of trowelled plaster; in the cool grey it resembles smoothed concrete, which suits a raw study.
• Mura Vinyl Sabbia – an alternative: a pronounced coarse sand grain, neither smooth nor satin, which goes with the warm beige of the lower part of the design.
• Mura Natur – an alternative: an eco-friendly, matt, odourless, hypoallergenic non-woven; the matt finish renders the soft transition of the sky into mist.

How can you buy with confidence?

Greys change shade depending on the light, so start with a sample: you order it from the product page as a print of about 90 × 50 cm on one or two materials, and we ship it in 1–3 working days. Hold it against the wall by the desk and check whether the cool sky suits your furniture and what texture the material has. On the product page you can also create an AI visualisation on a photo of your own room yourself; on request we will prepare a studio visualisation in 1–2 working days. If you want a warmer grey or a higher horizon, the studio will adjust the composition, colours and crop of the design to the interior. Orders are usually completed in 3–7 working days, shipping within Poland and Europe is free, and on request we arrange installation across Europe, after an individual quote.

You will find the other pale designs with ginkgo leaves in the Ginkgo Mist collection, and other soft, blurred landscapes in the Watercolours collection. If you are furnishing a study and want to set the height of the horizon, book a consultation with our studio.
