PALE VIGIL - white horse wall mural for a hall and a dining room

A white horse on a grey-beige field looks like a large picture leaning against the wall: it has its own plane of colour and a broad cream margin at the sides. The interior gains a pale, dignified figure that looks straight at whoever walks in.

What can you see in the design?

In PALE VIGIL a white horse stands side-on, facing right, with its head turned towards the viewer. The head, with a dark muzzle and dark eyes, sits to the right of the centre of the picture, in the upper part of the wall, and the ears reach the top edge. A long white mane falls down the neck, the body fills the middle, and the legs darken towards the bottom to brown and graphite. The white of the coat is not flat: grey, blue and warm beige appear in the shadows. The background is a grey-beige rectangle with vertical brush marks and a few darker, grey patches. On the left and on the right it is surrounded by a cream margin with a ragged edge, clearly wider on the right, and near the bottom edge there are a few rusty marks. On a wall 260 cm high with the full crop (about 460 cm wide), the horse measures about 1.9 m from the tail to the chest, the back sits about 180 cm above the floor, and the head is about 85 cm long.

How does it differ from similar designs?

The same pose – the horse side-on, its head towards the viewer – appears in the Horses collection in QUIET SENTINEL and RAVEN ON SAGE. The first is fawn-grey and merges with the beige background without a margin, the second is black on sage green. PALE VIGIL is the lightest and most classic of them: the white silhouette stands out from the darker background, not the other way round.

Which interiors suit it?

In a hall, the grey-beige and cream of the picture extend a light stone floor and wood finished in grey, and a horse looking towards the entrance turns a narrow space into a one-picture gallery. In a dining room the design suits a Gustavian style: grey boards, linen seats and pale porcelain, against which the white of the horse remains the brightest point. In a living room it combines with a sofa in grey-beige linen and a grey stone coffee table. Place the table, bench or sofa on the left and in the middle; their backs will cover only the dark legs. Leave the right part of the wall, under the head and neck, free, or put nothing there higher than a low bench.

How do you choose the size and the material?

It is a single image printed to the size of your wall – the dimensions, the material and the crop are set in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. At a height of 260 cm the grey-beige rectangle is about 3.3 m wide. On a narrower wall the cream margin will disappear and the design will stop resembling a picture with a pale border, but the horse will stay whole: the silhouette needs about 2.1 m. Do not trim the top, because the ears reach the edge.

The most versatile material is Mura Vinyl Canvas, with a natural canvas weave that strengthens the look of a canvas picture.
