PROMENADE - vintage ginkgo wall mural in ochre

Pale ginkgo leaves stand along the wall like a row of open umbrellas, and behind them stretches an old, worn wall in ochre and grey-green. The image has the calm of an old townhouse and a clear, graphic line, so the room gains character without an excess of colour. Low furniture stands in front of the pale, cracked band at the bottom, while the leaves above it remain completely uncovered.

What can you see in the design?

The motif is six cream, fan-shaped ginkgo leaves covered in dense, parallel ribbing, on thin, almost black stalks. On the left of the image one leaf is cut by the edge, next to it rises the tallest, and lower down, closer to the centre, stands a third. To the right of centre two leaves overlap, and the largest spreads out low by the right edge. The upper half of the background is smooth and grey-green, shading towards the bottom into grey-blue. At mid-height runs a band of worn, mustard ochre with sea-green streaks. The lower part is taken up by cream plaster that flakes away to reveal pale blue; beneath the right-hand leaves dark streaks run down, and right by the floor lies a narrow graphite band. On a wall 260 cm high, the largest leaf is about 145 cm wide, the tallest is about 175 cm long including its stalk, and the cream plaster together with the graphite band reaches about 70 cm above the floor. The flaking and the worn patches of the wall come from the flat print alone.

Which interiors does it suit?

In a living room in the spirit of 1960s Scandinavian modernism, mustard cushions, a sage armchair and pale ash wood repeat the colours of the image, and a low sofa hides only the calm band of plaster. In a bistro or café in an old townhouse, the worn ochre suits a stone floor, marble tables and bentwood chairs; place the tables in the middle of the room and you will see the whole panorama of leaves from the entrance. In a study with a walnut desk and a cognac-coloured armchair, the warm wood and the leather of the armchair pick up the ochre of the image. In afternoon side light, the ochre band looks warmer and the grey-green sky calmer.

How do you choose the size and material?

PROMENADE is a single image printed to the size of your wall. You set the size, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. At a height of 260 cm the whole image is about 460 cm wide; on a wall 3 metres wide, choose a crop with the pair of overlapping leaves and the largest leaf from the right-hand side of the image, or move the crop to the left, towards the tallest leaf.
