QUIET GIANT - whale wall mural for a bathroom and a child’s room

A white whale floats in the middle of the wall, with a lot of air around it: muted blues, sea turquoises and ragged white clouds under the ceiling. It is a cool, subdued image without bright colours, so it suits a bathroom and an adult bedroom as well as a small child’s room.

What does the design show?

In QUIET GIANT the whale swims to the left and takes up only the middle of the composition. It is white, with a grey-blue, striped throat. It raises its tail in the upper right of the image, among the clouds, and spreads its fins wide: the white one, about 1 m long, towards the right, and a grey one straight down.

The background is made of muted blues and sea turquoises: lighter at the top, with white, ragged clouds, and at the bottom thickening to a navy broken by grey. Short, angular brushstrokes and the weave of canvas are visible everywhere. When the wall is 260 cm high, the image is about 460 cm wide and the whale about 2.5 m long; the tail then reaches about 215 cm above the floor, and the lower fin drops to about 80 cm.

It is closest to AQUA DREAMER: both designs show a white whale swimming to the left. There, however, the sky is warmer, turquoise-green, and the whale is cream and about 3.6 m long, so it fills almost the whole wall. Here the colours are cooler and greyer, and the figure smaller, with more sky around it.

Which interior does it suit?

In a bathroom, a whale wall mural in soft blue works mainly through colour: the grey-blue background goes with white marble and chrome fittings. The lowest fin ends about 80 cm above the floor, so a freestanding bath about 60 cm high will not cover the animal. In an adult bedroom a headboard up to about 80 cm high ends in the darker, navy-grey zone, and the whale stays above it in full. Bleached boards and white bedding suit it here.

In a small child’s room, other qualities of the same image count: one large, white figure with a gentle outline, few small details and a subdued background that does not compete with toys. A low bed and a wooden shelf stay beneath the whale, and a design without a childish style will stay in place even when the little one’s room turns into a schoolchild’s room.

How do you choose the size and material?

QUIET GIANT is one large image printed to the size of your wall. In the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page you enter the dimensions, choose the material and move the crop. On a wall about 3 m wide the whale will fit in full and take up most of the crop.

The two main choices are Mura Vinyl Canvas and Mura Vinyl Intonaco. The first, with the weave of natural canvas, is the most versatile and matches the weave visible in the background of the image. The second has a trowelled plaster texture: it is structured, and in a bathroom, where the wall is seen up close, it adds depth to the angular brushstrokes. An alternative is Mura Vinyl Sabbia, which is neither smooth nor satin and has a pronounced coarse sand grain, visible in side light on the white body. Also consider Mura Natur: an eco-friendly non-woven, matt, odourless and hypoallergenic, whose matt finish suits the muted blues.

How can you buy with confidence?

Greyish blues change with the light: by a north-facing window they are cooler, under a bulb warmer. So take a sample first: a print of about 90 × 50 cm, on one or two materials, which you order from the product page and we ship in 1–3 working days. Look at it in the morning and in the evening and judge the colours and the texture of the material.

You can create an AI visualisation on a photo of your own room yourself on the product page. On request the DECOMURA team can also produce a studio visualisation, which takes 1–2 working days, and adapt the composition, colours and crop of the design to the interior. Orders are usually completed in 3–7 working days, and you do not pay for shipping in Poland and Europe; to other countries we charge it at the rate shown in the basket. We arrange installation anywhere in Europe on request and quote it individually. The printing itself is eco-friendly and certified.

You will find warmer, lighter and darker versions of this theme in the Sky Whales collection. If you are looking for a calm image for the wall behind a bed, take a look at the bedroom wallpapers, and arrange a consultation with the studio about the size and material.
