SALT AIR - light wall mural with ginkgo leaves for a bathroom

Bright as a house by the sea at noon: cream brush streaks, a pale blue mist and slender ginkgo leaves that leave plenty of air above them. The image brightens the wall without visually bringing it closer, which is why it looks good in a bathroom, living room and hall – even where the window is small.

What can you see in the design?

The top is filled with cream, worn brushstrokes that lower down turn into a pale blue mist, and lower still into a light turquoise. The ginkgo leaves stand on very tall, thin stems and rise to different heights. The white ones, drawn with a network of fine lines, grow by the left edge, in the middle – two, one above the other – and on the right side of the image. The grey-beige leaves in taupe stand high to the left of centre, low in the left part and high on the right.

The bottom is made of broad, cream patches of brush-applied paint on turquoise; their thick texture is part of the print, not of the wall. At a wall height of 260 cm the fans are about 45–55 cm tall, and the tallest plants, stem included, about 180 cm. Above the central white leaf about 70 cm of pale background remains, so the image stays light even when furniture stands in front of the wall.

Which interiors does it suit?

In a bathroom, tall leaves rise from behind a freestanding bath, whose rim hides only the cream lower part. An ivory bath, a polished-nickel tap, terrazzo and an oak stool with a linen towel repeat the palette of the image. In a seaside-style living room, the design suits a pale sofa in bouclé fabric, cushions in sand and muted turquoise, a jute rug and bleached wood. In a hall, the pale background brightens an entrance with a single window; a bench upholstered in light blue linen is enough to make the wall look finished. Cream-tinted white works well on the neighbouring walls.

How do you choose the size and material?

We print the design in full as one image to the size of your wall. In the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page you enter the width and height, and then move the crop. If the wall behind the bath is about 1.8 m wide, at a height of 260 cm you will fit roughly two fifths of the image – set the crop so that it takes in the two central white leaves or the tall taupe leaf on the left side of the image.

Of the main materials, Mura Vinyl Canvas has the texture of natural canvas and is the most versatile – the canvas weave suits the cream streaks at the top. Mura Vinyl Intonaco has the texture of trowelled plaster, is structured and complements the broad patches of paint at the bottom. Look at it in daylight and under a lamp, hold it against the colour of your tiles and compare the textures of the materials.
