SALT SPRAY - sea wave wall mural for bathrooms and living rooms

One huge, breaking wave fills the whole wall and at once sets the mood of the room: there is movement in it, the chill of water and pale foam. Despite its sweep the design stays soft, because the turquoise shades into cream gently, and a haze of tiny cream-gold dots hangs above the crest.

What can you see in the design?

SALT SPRAY is a painterly image of a wave, not a photograph of the sea: it shows broad brush marks and thousands of tiny dots. The crest rises in an arc from the left, passes over the middle and falls towards the right edge. Slightly left of centre the pale turquoise interior of the wave opens up. The left side and the lower left corner are filled with cream foam, the right with the darkest, deep turquoise, and above the crest and in the upper right corner floats a haze of dots in cream gold. By the bottom edge lies a sheet of water with broad white strokes.

On a wall 260 cm high the image is about 462 cm wide, the crest of the wave reaches about 235 cm above the floor, and the pale interior is about 100 cm across. The sheet of water by the floor takes up about 25 cm. The gold dots are a printed colour, a warm sandy shade without a metallic effect.

Which room does it suit?

In a bathroom the wave becomes the main picture of the room. Place a freestanding bath beneath the pale interior of the wave, and sand-coloured stone and antiqued brass will repeat the cream of the foam. Choose a wall that you look at from at least two metres away, because only from that distance can you see the whole arc.

In a living room SALT SPRAY suits bleached oak, white linen and low furniture: a sofa backrest up to about 80 cm will cover only the sheet of water and the bottom of the foam, while the crest and the interior of the wave stay above it. In a hotel room by the sea the design builds a seaside character without literal decorations; a bed with a woven headboard and a single lamp are enough. The pale interior of the wave lies on the left of the image, so place tall furniture, a wardrobe or a bookcase, rather on the right, darker part.

How do you choose the size and material?

This ocean wave wall mural is a single image printed to the size of your wall. In the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page you set the dimensions, material and crop; if the wall is narrower than the design, shift the crop so that the pale interior of the wave stays in it, because that is what holds the eye.
