Pale plumes of grass stand along the whole wall as on a quiet late-summer afternoon, and they calm the room straight away. Soft transitions of cream and grey taupe do not create one strong focal point; instead they spread calm across the full width – which is why this beige wall mural with pampas grass feels most at home where you rest.

What does the design show?

Across the full width of the image stands a dense row of about eight creamy pampas grass plumes with light brown centres. The plumes grow at different heights and lean in different directions; in the middle of the image two plumes stand right next to each other like a pair, and the tallest reach almost to the top edge. The outermost plumes are cropped by the sides of the image, so the row seems to carry on beyond it. The lower half is filled with a thicket of very pale, thin stems that cross one another and dissolve into a milky haze at the bottom edge. The background is grey taupe with horizontal, rubbed streaks and a painterly texture. The whole image is light and soft, without strong contrasts. On a wall 260 cm high, a single plume is about 80–110 cm long and the band of stems reaches about 130 cm up from the bottom edge, so the grasses are close to the scale of real pampas grass.

Which interiors does it suit?

In the bedroom, the light image behind the headboard is easy on the eyes before sleep, and the plumes in the upper part of the wall stay visible above a low bed. Pair it with sand-coloured linen, oak and woven rush – just as in the room setting from an Athens apartment. In the dining room, a wide wall lets you show the entire row of plumes; a low sideboard and chair backs will hide only the lower stems. The design suits Japandi and Scandinavian styles as well as country houses with whitewashed wood. In the study, the calm background without strong contrasts will not distract you while you work, and a walnut desk with brass accents will bring out the light brown centres of the plumes. In a north-facing room the grey taupe will look cooler; in south-facing light the beige will come through more clearly.

How do I choose the size and material?

Each design is one large image printed to the size of your wall. You set the size, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. On a wall 260 cm high, the full image is about 460 cm wide; on a narrower wall, shift the crop so that the pair of plumes from the centre is centred over the bed or table.

We recommend two materials as a starting point. Mura Vinyl Canvas has the texture of natural canvas and is the most versatile – its fine weave works with the rubbed streaks of the background. Mura Vinyl Intonaco has a trowelled plaster texture; in side light from a window it will add depth to the grey taupe. An alternative is Mura Vinyl Sabbia, with a pronounced coarse sand grain texture – it is neither smooth nor satin, and it looks best on a large wall viewed from two or three metres. Mura Natur is an eco-friendly, matt, odourless and hypoallergenic non-woven; its matt surface preserves the softness of the pale stems.
