SLEEPY THICKET - a wallpaper / wall mural featuring woodland animals for children

A painterly illustration of a group of woodland animals arranged in a wide row against a backdrop of a dense thicket, rendered in a watercolor and gouache technique with visible brush strokes and soft, blurred edges. The central figures include a red fox, a teal wolf, a brown bear with a small bird on its head, a black-and-white badger, a white rabbit, a smaller fox, and two lighter bears in cool greens and whites. All have closed or squinted eyes, rounded shapes, and rosy cheeks, giving the overall composition a calm, fairy-tale tone without any unsettling elements.

What exactly is depicted in the pattern

The background features a forest with vertical trunks in beiges, browns, and cool greens, interspersed with bright glimpses of sky. The foreground is filled with leaves, twigs, and small shrubs, with mushrooms appearing at the bottom edge: a red fly agaric with white spots and several light caps on the left side. A dragonfly sits on a branch in the upper right corner, while a small beaver peeks out in the lower right corner. The palette is muted: sage and olive greens, beige, warm russet, creamy white, and single accents of orange. There are no strong contrasts or saturated primary colors here.

What scale and cropping

The composition is distinctly horizontal and creates a continuous frieze of animal heads roughly at mid-height of the graphic. The animals are large relative to the frame, so the pattern works best across the full width of the wall, printed without repeating the report. For a low wall, it’s advisable to position the bottom edge just above the baseboard, so the mushrooms and leaves in the foreground do not disappear behind the bed or dresser. The upper part with trunks and sky can tolerate cropping, while the lower part does not.

What interior does it suit

This wall graphic is suitable for a child's room and nursery, and it will also work well in a reading nook, playroom, and kindergarten. Due to the neutral, woodland palette, this children's wallpaper / wall mural does not impose a division into a girlish or boyish version and will not require replacement for a long time. It pairs well with wood in natural tones, white furniture, linen, and wool in sandy colors. It’s advisable to leave the remaining walls in warm white, light beige, or muted green taken from the background of the pattern.

Which material to choose

For this pattern, we recommend Mura Vinyl Pennello: the fine, painterly texture of the substrate harmonizes with the visible brush strokes and softens the color transitions in the background. A smoother alternative is Mura Vinyl Canvas if you desire a clearer depiction of details, such as the fox's whiskers or the spots on the fly agaric.
