SQUALL - grass and cloudy sky wall mural for the dining room

A cloud is gathering over a field of grass, yet everything is still calm – that is how a wall looks with this grass wall mural with cloudy sky. The dark clump on the left gives the composition a clear outline, while the pale plumes dissolve into a soft haze. The room gains the depth of an open landscape without strong colours.

What does the design show?

On the left of the image, across the first two fifths of its width, grows a clump of tall, graphite-coloured grasses. Their slender blades end in feathery plumes drawn with a fine line. On a wall 260 cm high, the clump rises from the bottom edge to about 210 cm and is about 185 cm wide. Single pale plumes show through behind it, and from the centre to the right edge of the image stretches a dense field of creamy white grasses with fluffy tufts. The field occupies the middle band of the mural, so it falls roughly at eye level. The upper half, about 130 cm, is filled with a cloudy, grey-blue sky with sandy and ochre worn patches that recall old plaster. A band of rusty ochre mixed with grey runs along the bottom. The palette is muted: grey-blue, cream, sand, rusty ochre and graphite, with no green.

Which interiors does it suit?

In a dining room, the pale field of grass sits above the tabletop and the backs of the chairs. Place the table nearer the centre or the right-hand part of the wall, and the dark clump on the left stays uncovered. You can echo the sandy and rusty tones of the lower band in oak, terracotta and linen – just as in our room setting in a stone house in the south of France. In a living room, the design suits rustic, Japandi and coastal styles: a low sofa in white or beige covers only the bottom band, while the grasses and sky remain visible above it. In a study, you can repeat the graphite of the clump in the dark leather of an armchair and a metal lamp, while the grey-blue sky calms the wall you work beside. In a north-facing room the cool blue of the sky will be more pronounced; in a south-facing room the sandy patches will warm it.

How do I choose the size and material?

The design is one large image printed to the size of your wall. You set the size, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. On a wall 260 cm high, the whole image is about 460 cm wide. On a narrower wall, shift the crop so that the dark clump on the left fits in completely, as it is what holds the composition together.
