TANGERINE RUFFLE - sage and orange ginkgo mural for a hallway

Ruffled, translucent ginkgo leaves crowd together on the left of the wall, and on the right a single large fan rises on a long stalk. The distressed orange areas on the sage ground work like patches of afternoon light: they enliven a hallway or kitchen, and the interior stays green.

What can you see in the design?

The ground is the colour of sage, with vertical bands of darker green. Vivid distressed orange patches appear by the left edge, in the right part of the image and in the top right corner. In the left and middle part a dense group of translucent, cream-mint leaves with wavy, ruffled edges runs down to the bottom edge.

On the right of the image one large, fan-shaped leaf on a long stalk reaches the top edge, and behind it a translucent fan of thin lines spreads out. Across the whole width run thin, curved cream threads that join the two parts of the composition. On a wall 260 cm high the image is about 4.6 m wide, the large fan on the right about 185 cm wide, and its stalk runs down to the floor itself.

Which interiors does it suit?

Hallway and entrance hall. The distressed orange patches go with terracotta, cement tiles and rust-coloured upholstery, as in the entrance hall setting in a Barcelona townhouse with a walnut bench and amber vases. On the wall opposite the door the large fan can be seen from the threshold.

Dining room and kitchen-diner. By a long oak table the orange will be repeated in a bowl of tangerines or in ceramics, and the sage in the cushions on the chairs. Put the cabinets on another wall so that the leaves stay uncovered.

Living room. With a sofa in rust velvet and a travertine table the design creates a warm, earthy set. Put the sofa beneath the group of ruffled leaves and a lamp beneath the large fan.

In a narrow hallway you can move the crop so that the large fan stays whole and a few ruffled leaves remain from the left part.
