A row of pale plumes crosses the entire width of the wall at an even pace, which is why this pampas grass hallway wall mural looks its best where the wall is long and you see it on the move. The smoky taupe background calms a corridor or hallway, while the cream plumes brighten it without harsh contrast.

What does the design show?

The image shows seven fluffy pampas grass plumes on slender stems. They stand in a single row across the full width, at roughly the same height in the upper half. They also lean slightly in different directions, so the row is even but not rigid. The tallest plume, on the right of the image, reaches almost to the top edge. The plumes are cream, shading into a delicate sandy beige at the centre. The lower part is filled with broad, arching, translucent blades through which the background shows. The background blends smoky taupe with greige, and the vertical brushstrokes are softly blurred, as in a photograph. On a wall 260 cm high, the whole image is about 460 cm wide, a single plume is about 90–110 cm long, and the plumes stand roughly 65 cm apart.

Which interior does it suit?

It does the most for a long corridor or hallway. As you walk along the wall, the plumes pass you one after another at similar intervals. From a metre or a metre and a half away you can see the fluffy fibres of the plumes and the strokes in the background, and the muted, mid-tone taupe does not overwhelm a narrow passage. In a hallway, place a low pale stone console or a rattan bench in front of the wall and leave the centre of the wall free, as in our room setting. Another good space is a restaurant or café with a long banquette along the wall: the seating will cover only the lower band of blades, while the plumes remain above the guests' heads. In a bedroom, the row of plumes will stretch above a bed with a linen headboard; the taupe background combines with oak, walnut and chestnut wood, and the whole look suits rustic, minimalist and boho styles.

How do I choose the size and material?

This is a single image printed to the size of your wall. You set the size, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. The full row of seven plumes fits on a wall about 4.6 m wide at a height of 260 cm; on a shorter wall the crop will include fewer plumes, and in the configurator you choose which ones stay. There are two core materials. Mura Vinyl Canvas has a natural canvas weave and is the most versatile – the canvas structure blends with the blurred strokes of the background and, viewed up close in a corridor, does not draw attention away from the fibres of the plumes. Mura Vinyl Intonaco has a trowelled plaster texture; on it, the taupe background looks like a painted wall when side light falls across a hallway. As an alternative, consider Mura Vinyl Sabbia with its pronounced coarse sand grain texture – it is neither smooth nor satin, so it suits interiors with stone and raw wood. Mura Natur is an eco-friendly matt non-woven, odourless and hypoallergenic; in a bedroom it gives the cream plumes a calm, matt surface.
