UPDRAFT - ecru wall mural with ginkgo leaves for a hotel bedroom

Slender stems climb from the bottom of the wall and end at different heights, while large, sheer leaves float above them as if in a warm current of air. The interior gains a vertical rhythm and lightness, and the almost single-colour palette of ecru and white gives the eyes a rest – in a bedroom at home and in a hotel room.

What can you see in the design?

Across the whole width of the image, tall, thin stems with ginkgo leaves grow from the bottom. They reach highest on the left side of the image and in the upper right part, and in the middle they end a little lower, so the upper line forms a gentle dip in the middle. The leaves are white and cream, semi-transparent, outlined with a thin white line, with a delicate beige shadow at the base. The background is ecru, and at the top, especially on the right, pale diagonal brushstrokes cut across it.

The lower band is covered with thickly applied paint with pale grey-blue and beige patches – in the print this is an image of texture, not relief. At a height of 260 cm the large leaves are about 35–50 cm wide, the highest reach about 240 cm from the floor on the left and about 230 cm on the right, and the painterly band at the bottom is about 70 cm.

Which interiors does it suit?

Hotel room and guest suite. A calm, pale wall behind the bed goes with ivory bouclé, travertine and white bedding and does not tire guests over successive nights. This is how it looks in the suite setting in a renovated villa in Biarritz, above a low headboard.

Bedroom at home. With a low oak bed without a headboard, microcement and raw linen, as in the country house setting in Mallorca, the vertical stems optically raise the wall and leave a pale space overhead.

Bathroom. With matt stone, travertine and walnut, the cream leaves create a soft, painterly backdrop behind a freestanding bath.

How do you choose the size and material?

UPDRAFT is made as one image printed to the size of your wall, and you set the size, material and crop in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. At a height of 260 cm the full design is about 4.6 m wide. In a room with a narrower wall behind the bed, set the crop so that it includes one of the taller groups of stems – on the left or the right side of the image.
