A tousled dark forelock, a white blaze and one orange stroke of the brush above the head: this horse brings movement into a room even though it stands still. The cool blues and navy are balanced by the cream, sandy background, so the wall is expressive but not dark.

What can you see in the design?

WILD FORELOCK shows a grey horse from close up. The head with a white blaze, turned slightly at an angle towards the viewer, sits to the right of the centre of the picture and takes up the upper two thirds of the height of the wall; a dark, navy-black mane streams above the forehead and around the ears. The body stretches to the left: the flank and back are white and blue, brown and rusty patches lie on the chest and neck, and dark legs go down beyond the bottom edge. At the top, to the right of the head, there is an orange accent, and beneath it a grey-beige band of background. The rest of the background is cream and sandy, with blue and navy patches on the left, behind the rump. The brushstrokes are broad and decisive, in places they look like palette-knife marks. The scale is larger than life: on a wall 260 cm high with the full crop (about 460 cm wide), the head from ears to nostrils measures about 155 cm.

How does it differ from similar designs?

In the Horses collection the other horse with a white blaze, seen from close up, is WHITE BLAZE. That one is brown, set face-on and kept in browns and beiges; its body dissolves into horizontal bands. WILD FORELOCK has a cooler palette with blue, navy and orange, a head turned at an angle and a more clearly built body, which is why it is the more dynamic of the pair.

Which interiors suit it?

In a study you can repeat the blue and navy of the horse in the wool upholstery of a chair, while the cream of the background melts into the light pine or oak of the desk; a steel lamp will pick up the cool tones of the coat. In a seaside-style living room the design goes with bleached boards, the cream cotton of a sofa and pale blue ceramics. The third place is a hall or porch with a limestone floor and a bench painted grey-blue. The orange accent is enough to echo with one small item, for instance a book cover or a vase. The head comes down low, to about a third of the height of the wall, so place the furniture on the left, in front of the body; on the right leave only something low, like a chest or a cushion on the floor.

How do you choose the size and the material?

This grey horse wall mural is a single image printed to the size of your wall; you set the crop, the dimensions and the material in the “Calculate price and order” configurator on the product page. The horse takes up about 3 m of width, but the head alone only about 55 cm, so the design can be cropped as a portrait even for a narrow wall. Then check whether the orange patch on the right stays in the crop – without it the picture is calmer.

On Mura Vinyl Canvas, the most versatile material with a natural canvas weave, the broad brushstrokes look as they would on a canvas picture. The textured Mura Vinyl Intonaco, with a trowelled plaster texture, emphasises the palette-knife parts of the background better. Those are the two main choices. The alternatives are Mura Vinyl Sabbia – a pronounced coarse sand grain, neither smooth nor satin, most visible on the cream planes – and Mura Natur, that is an eco-friendly, matt non-woven, odour-free and hypoallergenic.

How can you buy with confidence?

In this design two colours have to be checked at once: the cool blue of the coat and the warm orange of the accent. A sample ordered from the product page will help, a print of about 90 × 50 cm on one or two materials, which we dispatch within 1–3 working days; on it you will see the colours and the texture of the material beside your own floor and fabrics. You can check the scale of the horse on the AI visualisation on a photo of your own room – you make it yourself on the product page. If you would rather the studio did it, we prepare a studio visualisation on request in 1–2 working days. On request we will also adapt the composition, the colours and the crop, for instance by toning down the orange. We usually complete orders in 3–7 working days and ship free of charge in Poland and Europe, and to other countries at the rate in the basket. On request we arrange installation anywhere in Europe, after an individual quote.

Calmer portraits and herds at a gallop are in the Horses collection, and other designs for a place of work in the wall murals for the study section. Want to match the crop to a specific wall? Talk to the studio at a consultation.

The wallpaper comes as numbered panels; you apply the paste to the wall and hang the panels edge to edge. For large formats we recommend a professional installer; on request, we arrange installation across Europe with an individual quote.
