LULLABY GROVE - forest animal concert among the ferns

In a thicket where pale green light filters through, someone has raised a flute and the whole forest gathering has fallen silent. A bear with moss-colored fur plays right in the middle, beside him a white bear clasps a lyre to himself, and a raccoon plucks the strings of a small guitar. All around, one next to another, stand the listeners: a moose with spreading antlers, a stag, a badger, an owl and an elephant the color of morning mist. What do you see in the design?

The composition is horizontal and built in layers. In the foreground, among ferns, white flowers and a plump fly agaric, sit the musicians: a raccoon with a guitar, a white bear cub with a lyre, a girl in a green dress with panpipes and a penguin with a mug in its little paw. The center is taken by a large bear in muted, mossy green — it is the one holding the flute and setting the axis of the whole scene. Higher up, shoulder to shoulder, stand a moose, a barn owl, a stag, a badger, a brown bear with a tambourine and a polar bear; between them perch a robin and a blue kingfisher. The background blurs into a pale, misty green of trunks and leaves, through which light breaks from above. The palette keeps to sage, bottle green, cream and russet brown, with small accents of red on the bird's feathers.

What kind of interior does it suit?

It looks best on the wall behind the bed in a child's room. Keep the other walls in white or warm cream, add light oak or birch and sage-colored linen — furniture in natural wood will pick up the browns of the antlers and the guitar. On a typical wall, the bear with the flute is roughly the height of a young child, and the antlers of the moose and the stag reach the top edge of the picture. You can cover the bottom band of ferns, the fly agaric and the smallest figures with a bed, a chest of drawers or a low shelf without losing anything — the scene's center of gravity lies clearly higher up, on the row of animal faces. On a narrower wall, crop symmetrically from the sides: the outermost trunks and leaves are framing, not content. On a lower wall, shorten it from the bottom to keep the antlers.
